Nakajima Ki-115, 1002

History
The Ki-115 on display at the Pima Air & Space Museum was built between May and August 1945 at Nakajima's factories in Iwate or Ota. Captured by Allied forces at the end of the war, it was shipped to the United States for evaluation. The aircraft was transferred to the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum and placed in storage at the museum's Garber Facility. In 2012, it was placed on loan to the Pima Air & Space Museum for conservation and display.P
Due to preservation guidelines, the fuselage remains unrestored, showcasing its original rusted surface. The engine is not attached due to damage to the lower front fuselage that could not be repaired without significant replacement of original material. The aircraft's horizontal and vertical stabilizers, elevators, rudder, and one aileron had been destroyed or lost over time and have been replaced with replicas to make the aircraft appear externally complete
