Brooklands museum visit

07-06-2025

Returning to Brooklands Museum after two decades, I was eager to witness how this iconic site had evolved since my last visit in 2004. Nestled in Weybridge, Surrey, Brooklands holds the distinction of being the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit and the birthplace of British aviation. Over the years, it has transformed into a dynamic museum that seamlessly blends its rich history with modern innovations.

A major addition is the Brooklands Aircraft Factory, an interactive space housed inside a reconstructed WW2-era Bellman Hangar. It's more than just an exhibit—it's an experience. Here, you can get hands-on with aviation design and learn how planes were built and maintained throughout the decades. This exhibit didn't exist in 2004, and it's one of the museum's most impressive achievements since.

If, like me, you haven't visited since the early 2000s, I can't recommend a return visit enough. Brooklands Museum has come a long way—and stepping through its gates again feels like reconnecting with a living piece of history.
