Junkers Ju 52/3m, WNr. 7220

History
Manufactured in 1941 at the Junkers Flugzeugwerk AG in Bernburg, Germany, the Ju 52/3m 7220 was initially delivered to Deutsche Lufthansa under the registration D-AZAW, named "Hans Kirschstein." However, after just one week of service, it was transferred to the Spanish airline Iberia in 1942. Subsequently, the aircraft was requisitioned by the Spanish Air Force, where it served as a transport and liaison aircraft, including flights connecting Berlin with the Spanish Blue Division on the Eastern Front during World War II.
The aircraft remained in service with the Spanish Air Force until 1963, bearing the designation T2B-108. In 1965, it was donated to the Deutsches Museum in Munich and was exhibited at the Internationale Verkehrsausstellung in 1965. In 1966, it was transferred to the Verkehrsmuseum Berlin, where it was displayed under the prewar Lufthansa registration D-AZAW, representing the airline's first Junkers 52.
In 1991, with the support of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the aircraft underwent restoration to return it to its original appearance.
