Fieseler Fi 156A-1, WNr. 2088, GM+AI

History
While specific details about WNr 2088's military service are scarce, it is likely that it served with the Luftwaffe during World War II, given its construction number and the typical deployment of such aircraft. The Storch was widely used by German forces and was involved in various operations, including reconnaissance missions and troop transport.
After the war, many Fi 156 aircraft were captured by Allied forces and later sold or transferred to other countries. WNr 2088 was eventually acquired by the Shuttleworth Collection in the United Kingdom, a renowned aviation museum and airshow organizer. The aircraft arrived at Old Warden from Fairoaks on November 5, 2006, and underwent a comprehensive rebuild to return it to flight status. Its first post-restoration flight took place on March 11, 2009. During its time with the Shuttleworth Collection, WNr 2088 was painted in a Luftwaffe color scheme, bearing the code "GM+AI," and participated in various airshows, showcasing its remarkable STOL performance.
In February 2019, WNr 2088 was sold and registered in Norway as LN-STC. The aircraft is currently based in Norway, where it continues to be operated by private owners, participating in aviation events and serving as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Storch.
Today, Fi 156A-1 Storch WNr 2088 stands as a living piece of aviation history, reflecting the ingenuity and versatility of the original design.
