Bücker Bü 181B, WNr. 021969, "TP + CP"

History

Werknummer 021969 was among the aircraft captured by Allied forces during or after the liberation of Western Europe. The aircraft was found in a derelict state in Ostend, Belgium, and was subsequently transported to the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History in Brussels.

In the 1970s, members of the Association of Friends of the Air and Space Museum (AELR) undertook a meticulous restoration of the aircraft. During the process, they uncovered the original German camouflage and markings beneath layers of postwar paint. The aircraft was restored to its original Luftwaffe configuration, complete with the code "TP+CP".

Today, the Bü 181B Bestmann is displayed in the Aviation Hall of the museum
