Messerschmitt Bf 110D-0, WNr. 3154, NO + DS

History
Werknummer 3154 was a Bf 110D variant, part of the Luftwaffe's Zerstörer (destroyer) units. In the winter of 1940, it was stationed in northern Norway with 2./ZG 76. During this period, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on the frozen Lake Upmasjaure in Sweden due to operational issues. The harsh winter conditions rendered the aircraft inoperable, and it remained on the lake until the spring thaw. As the ice melted, the aircraft sank to the bottom of the lake, where it remained submerged for nearly five decades.
In the 1990s, the aircraft was rediscovered and recovered from its watery grave. The remains were transported to Germany, where restoration efforts began. Today, parts of the aircraft, including the wings and tail section, are on display at the Technik Museum Speyer. These artefacts provide a tangible connection to the aircraft's storied past.
The preserved components of Werknummer 3154 serve as a poignant reminder of the aircraft's role during World War II
